BIO
The Jazz Station Big Band is the house band of the famous jazz club in Brussels, the Jazz Station. The JSBB was created in 2006 and is composed by 14 great soloists among which are its own arrangers.
The peculiar aspect of this big band resides in the fact that there is a guitarist in the rhythm section, and, in comparison with a traditional big band, one finds only 4 saxes, 3 trumpets and 3 trombones. Nevertheless, The Jazz Station big band never ceases to impress its audience, proposing a fresh repertoire mixing originality and tradition. Being the only Belgian professional big band with a monthly residency in a club, the members take advantage of their concerts as a laboratory to try new arrangements, and extend its repertoire. The result is vivacious and has a strong effect on the audience, as they can pride themselves to make full house at every occasion.
Over the years, the repertoires of the big band have flourished and have been praised by critics, with guests such as Jason Rebello (Sting, Jeff Beck), Kenny Werner (Joe Lovano, Toots Thielemans), Emil Viklicki (Wynton Marsalis, Miroslav Vitous),... They released an album featuring the great NY harmonicist Grégoire Maret (Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny), represented Belgium at the world's fair in Dubaï 2022 and released Moods, their last original studio album.
